Even though Jeopardy! is taking a break for the summer, not everyone is happy with the show’s modifications, which are ushering in a brand-new thrilling chapter.
When fans checked in during the first week of August after Jeopardy! finished season 38 at the end of July, they learned that this year’s repeat schedule was different. The quiz programme isn’t running duplicate episodes of competitions like it did in prior summers. Michael Davies, the executive producer of Jeopardy!, and his staff “handpicked six weeks of some of [their] best episodes of the season, containing [the] closest games, super-champions,” and Second Chance tournament participants.
The champion Matt Amodio, who set records with his staggering 38 victories and $1.5 million in total winnings, was one of the Jeopardy! contestants that appeared in the summer repeat shows. It appears like this isn’t the type of return everyone had in mind, despite the fact that many fans are excited to see him in the 2022 Tournament of Champions.
Many viewers were ecstatic to be able to experience the computer science Ph.D. student’s victory on Jeopardy! when they saw him appear. One user said on Instagram, “Matt is one of my favourites.” Another said, “Love you Matt!!!” Another admirer said, “Matt all the way!”
Others, on the other hand, felt differently about seeing the Ohio native once again.
This week, I’ve been watching repeats; one of them was more fascinating than the others. Hats off to Matt, but I don’t think he’s that amusing,” one of his Instagram followers said. I didn’t want to witness this throughout the summer. You must return to your previous [format] of holding repeat tournaments as you always have. Another fan posted, “Not interested at all and won’t be watching.
The first-ever Second Chance tournament, which will take place in October, has had 16 names revealed, but the next Tournament of Champions is still mostly unknown. However, viewers of Jeopardy! anticipate Matt’s comeback along with those of Amy Schneider, Mattea Roach, Ryan Long, and others.
For now, the new season of Jeopardy! will launch on September 12, while the Celebrity Jeopardy! offshoot will debut on September 25. Fans may also see classic repeat episodes on Pluto in the meantime.
