After a court ruled against LIV this week, golfers who left the LIV for the PGA Tour would not be permitted to compete in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Golfing prodigy Rory McIlroy expressed satisfaction with the outcome and referred to LIV Golf as a “sideshow,” and now Justin Thomas is joining the criticism. Thomas sent a somewhat direct message to the LIV Golfers in an interview after the news broke. Additionally, it seems like he made fun of LIV golfer Bryson DeChambeau.
According to Jason Sobel, Thomas stated, “You can have your cake, but you don’t have to eat it, too.” “And they received their due portion of a huge quantity of cake; go devour it on your own initiative.” It’s not necessary to bring it with you on our trip. Thomas’ direct post seems to be in response to DeChambeau’s strange comparison of LIV Golf to a brand-new pizza restaurant made during an interview with Tucker Carlson last week on Fox News.
DeChambeau said to Carlson, “It’s really odd, because it’s like — let’s use this as a reference.” “I first heard about this last week. You own a pizzeria that has been operating for 50 years. And every consumer goes there since it has a nice product. Right, all of a sudden a new pizzeria opens. And they begin paying the consumers to eat at their establishment, and that pizza may be a little bit nicer, is that correct? Then all of a sudden, the original pizza restaurant announces that if you go there, you are never allowed to return to their establishment. Why is that economic model flawed?
DeChambeau expressed hope throughout the conversation that the PGA Tour and LIV Golf would one day have a stronger working relationship. However, judging by previous remarks made by McIlroy and Thomas, a friendly relationship may be a long way off.
