Rachel Stevens sobbed uncontrollably when seeing her 11-year-old daughter Amelie’s West End debut. The former S Club 7 member’s daughter has begun on a career in theatre after getting the part of Eponine in a London production of ‘Les Miserables’ and then being transferred to portray young Cosette – and Rachel has claimed she was overcome with emotion as she saw Amelie perform.
She told Hello! magazine: “Oh my goodness, I was crying. The pride of seeing her flourish. I felt like I may explode. She began as Eponine before assuming the part of young Cosette. When she did her first solo performance, my stomach was in my throat. Amelie has always had the nicest voice, but I was flooded with so many emotions. I felt fear, pride, and awe. It was astounding.”
The 44-year-old singer said she is not a “pushy” mom but is supportive of her daughter’s aspirations.
She continued, “Amelie really takes the lead on this – I’m supportive but not pushy, and given all the knowledge I’ve gained in my profession, I try to offer her the best advise I can and be there to answer her questions.”
Rachel is also the mother of Minnie, who is eight years old, with her estranged husband Alex Bourne. Rachel announced the couple’s separation after thirteen years of marriage.
Rachel announced the breakup on social media a month ago: “I just wanted to let everyone know that after much thought and deliberation, Alex and I have taken the painful choice to separate.”
While we are no longer married, we will remain loving and respectful co-parents to our lovely daughters.
Rachel and Alex had a childhood romance. They were slated to celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary this month. They were married in 2009 at the luxurious London hotel Claridge’s.
