After passing away tragically just two years ago, the actor and singer Naya Rivera has been deeply mourned. On July 8, 2020, Rivera and her son Josey rented a boat and headed out onto California’s Lake Piru for the day. However, after Josey was subsequently discovered on the boat by herself, without the actress in sight, a search team discovered Rivera’s remains in the water, and her death was deemed to have been caused by accidental drowning, according to People.
Tragically, it was discovered that Rivera had actually saved her son before passing away. Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub revealed during a news conference (via Entertainment Tonight) that Josey had told them that he and his mother had been swimming when she lifted him aboard their boat and then vanished. She had just enough strength to reboard the boat with her son, but not enough to survive.
The former “Glee” star became well-known for her passion of parenthood and for tiny Josey after giving birth to her baby in 2015 with fellow actor Ryan Dorsey. She stated to Mimi Magazine (via People) in 2016: “I wish to teach strong principles and values in him.” “I want to educate him to be powerful but not proud, to always be in love with life, and to be confident yet kind.” Rivera wasn’t around to witness her son Josey’s most recent achievement, but her former co-stars are still supporting him in life.
