Near the location where he vanished from, a New Jersey man who went missing while on a family camping trip in Pennsylvania was discovered dead.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, on Sunday, Adrien Hachey of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, was reported missing after his family in Hazle Township, Pennsylvania, woke up and could not find him about 10:24 a.m. local time.
Soon after, according to Patch, law enforcement officers, local diving teams, Northeast Search and Rescue, and Hazle Township Fire and Rescue started looking for Hachey, 43.
Adrien Hachey was discovered dead at a camp site in Hazle Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, the day after he went missing, according to a police statement obtained by PEOPLE. There were both land-based and water-based search and rescue activities involved in the search.
Hachey was later discovered dead in a small body of water close to where he had been camping with his four sons, girlfriend, and her three kids, a day after he was first reported missing.
According to police, his cause of death was determined to be accidental. In a statement, they said, “Our sympathies are with the family and friends during this trying time.
In order to gather money for his sons’ schooling following his passing, Hachey’s GoFundMe page has asked for donations from mourners.
The GoFundMe page’s description reads, “Adrien loved his boys profoundly and would want to assure their prosperous futures.” The page appears to have been made on behalf of the kids’ grandparents. Rheal and Rose-Marie Hachey, the grandparents of the boys, will hold donated monies in trust to pay for a portion of the boys’ educational expenses.
