Ashton Kutcher can count on Mila Kunis, moustache and all.
The 44-year-old What Happens in Vegas actor shared details on how he changed his facial hair for his most recent film Vengeance during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday with special guest presenter David Alan Grier.
The movie’s Quentin Sellers, a small-town Texas music producer, is played by Kutcher, and he sports a pencil-thin moustache. Kutcher remembers thinking of such “evil dudes” with thin moustaches like Smokey and the Bandit and Cannonball Run when he first saw the role, saying, “This is fascinating. He sorta had this Boss Hog sense about him.” “Alright, I suppose this man has got this aura of sophistication,” I thought.
Kutcher added of Kunis, 38, “Then my wife had to deal with that and it was all great.”
Grier, 66, questioned Kutcher about how she felt about his facial hair. Kutcher said that Kunis was extremely understanding. Seven years into our relationship, so when I brought the moustache home, she exclaimed, “Oh it’s like a new man!” Kutcher remarked.
Regarding the film itself, BJ Novak makes his debut as both star and director with Vengeance. BJ approached me with an incredible script he had written and said, “Hey, I’m going to direct this thing, this is going to be my directorial debut, and there’s a character I want you to play,” according to Kutcher.
Kutcher was intrigued after reading the screenplay and decided to work on the movie. Because it, in his opinion, perfectly encapsulated where America is at the moment, he said, “It was one of the finest screenplays I’ve seen in like a decade.”
The actor said that the film is “beautiful, but extremely humorous” and that it is about a New York podcaster who travels to southwest Texas to “essentially show to everyone how stupid they are and he gets a lesson along the way.” Along with Vengeance, Kutcher’s much anticipated That ’70s Show spin-off series, That ’90s Show, will premiere on Netflix shortly.
In addition to Kunis, Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Wilmer Valderrama, Danny Masterson, Debra Jo Rupp, Kurtwood Smith, Tanya Roberts, Don Stark, Lisa Robin Kelly, and Tommy Chong, the actor appeared on That ’70s Show from 1998 through 2006.
Leia (Callie Haverda), the granddaughter of 1970s actors Eric Forman (Grace) and Donna Pinciotti (Prepon), will be the focus of That ’90s Show as she spends the summer with her grandparents Kitty (Rupp) and Red Forman (Smith). Of course, Kutcher, Kunis, and Valderrama will attend as special guests. Before agreeing to reprise their roles, Kutcher and Kunis had a talk, the actor said on a prior Vengeance red carpet.
Mila and I were talking about it, he said to Variety. We went back and had fun for a week. It was so random and wonderful. We felt, “Listen, we’re only in the position that we’re in because of that show, so let’s just go back and do this.”
He said, “It was incredibly nostalgic to be back on the set. It’s all the same individuals who did That ’70s Show, so it was quite odd,” while praising the “new cast, which is great.” That ’90s Show has no scheduled release date, although Vengeance is presently playing in cinemas.
