Adele’s decision to postpone her Las Vegas residency was the “worst time” of her career. The pop artist was scheduled to begin a series of gigs in Sin City in January, but she abruptly cancelled, citing the COVID-19 outbreak as the reason she was unable to put the show together in time. She has since admitted that the issue left her “devastated” and “embarrassed.”
She told ELLE UK, “It was by far the lowest point of my career.” By far. I was quite enthusiastic about the shows. It was catastrophic.”
Adele said, “The first several months were quite challenging. I was humiliated. However, since it was such a courageous deed, it really increased my confidence in myself. And I do not believe that many individuals would have done what I did. I am quite proud of myself for adhering to my creative demands.
The ‘Rolling In The Deep’ singer also provided an explanation for what went wrong, acknowledging that the arrangement seemed off.
She said, “It just lacked spirit. The stage layout was incorrect. It lacked closeness and was really far from me and my band. And maybe I pushed too hard to provide it with these qualities in such a regulated atmosphere.”
After postponing the residency until November, Adele is finally pleased with the concert she will be doing.
She continued, “I don’t want to give too much away, but the show develops. It focuses only on the music and is really, extremely nostalgic. It’s going to be just stunning… ”
The 34-year-old performer also believed that the moment is ripe for her to go on a series of gigs in the Nevada gambling mecca because she believes her songs “will work in a Vegas show.”
Adele also expressed her eagerness to play songs from her current album, ’30’. She continued, “It will be really emotional. I have no idea what I will do with myself…
“Putting together the set list and graphics has been quite emotional since so much has transpired. Fifteen years (of her profession) is a considerable amount of time. But despite the size of my life today, I feel very fortunate to have had a regular existence.”
The ‘Weekends with Adele’ performance will run from November 18 to March 25, 2023 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. In addition to the 24 rescheduled dates, an additional eight performances have been added.
The October issue of ELLE UK is available for purchase beginning on September 1.
