Grey’s Anatomy viewers learnt this month that the lead actress Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) would only appear in eight of the forthcoming 19th season’s episodes. Despite this, she will still serve as the show’s narrator and one of its executive producers.
But despite her accomplishments, which include many People’s Choice Awards, a Golden Globe nomination, and a contract reputedly worth up to $20 million year, Pompeo isn’t content to sit back and relax. She will instead play the lead role in a Hulu limited series that dramatises the real account of American parents who said that their adult Ukrainian adopted daughter was actually a “sociopath.”
The unnamed Hulu show will be Pompeo’s fans’ first opportunity to witness the 52-year-old perform someone other than Meredith Grey since 2005. (aside from her cameo in a Taylor Swift video, of course). Additionally, according to what Pompeo revealed to The Hollywood Reporter in 2018, she was contractually prohibited from appearing in other roles. “I don’t have any other opportunities, which is difficult for my creative process. I produce 24 TV programmes a year, and as part of this agreement, I am not allowed to appear anywhere.
Highlights from Pompeo’s non-Anatomy Grey’s career are presented below in chronological order, including scenes in which she appeared with Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck, Jim Carrey, and a few Friends.
